Patient communication devices

During Covid 19 we recognised how hard it is for patients not to be able to see their loved ones. Using technology is a great way to enable them to connect during what is a difficult time. Using FaceTime and Skype, the iPads allow patients to talk and visit electronically with family members and loved ones while in hospital. Talking to loved ones on the phone and hearing their voice is reassuring, but being able to see that they’re well and to check on their well-being when you can’t see them in person just adds another dimension of comfort for our patients and their families.

The Trust now has around 20  iPads for use on COVID wards and with end of End of Life patients and these are also helping patients in other areas who cannot have their family visiting at this present time.
