Children's Ward projects

Every year 4,000 children are admitted to Great Western Hospital Children's Ward, many with long term medical conditions.  Children of all ages from babies up to 18 years old, come in for the day, or repeatedly over several years, whilst others sadly are inpatients for much longer periods.

For many children, a stay away from the comforts of home and family can be a frightening and bewildering experience. So, we aim to make the Children's Ward a welcoming place offering young patients a home away from home to spend precious time with their families.

We want to transform the ward with equipment that will enhance the service on offer to families and make life that little bit easier for our staff and that's where your monetary donations and fundraising can really help.

The Children's Ward are currently looking for donations of

- Breast Pumps

- Children's underwear (all age groups up to aged 17)

- Items to make up individual play packs

  • Colouring pencils

  • Colouring books

  • Playdoh

  • Bubbles

  • Small puzzles and games

- Arts and craft items for teenagers

All items must be brand new for infection control reasons and donated via the Brighter Futures Fundraising Team.  Please contact us on 01793 605631 or gwh.fundraising@nhs.net
