After launching the appeal at the end of May 2015 the team are really pleased to say that 18 months in we have reached £1.5 million.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our fundraisers, supporters and volunteers for raising more than £1.5 million of the £2.9 million needed to fund specialist equipment for a new radiotherapy unit at the Great Western Hospital.
New Head of Fundraising Catherine Newman, who joined Brighter Futures this week, said: "I'm really excited to be joining the team at this very significant milestone for the Radiotherapy Appeal.
"The level of support the public has given to this appeal so far has been amazing and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us get to the halfway stage.
"Every penny you raise will help us bring cancer treatment closer to the people of Swindon and Wiltshire, so please don't stop now and help us to reach our £2.9 million target!"
The new state-of-the-art radiotherapy unit will be built on the Great Western Hospital site and run by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The appeal has received support from local businesses and organisations such as the Swindon Advertiser, Rotary Clubs, Stratton Sainsbury's and Swindon Will Writing. We have seen hundreds of supporters take part in runs, cycle rides and skydives. As well as lots of community fun days, concerts and fayres. Brighter Futures are so grateful for the support and we ask all our supporters to help push us to the finish line.
